Holy shit! Jaime has prevailed against Temeraire and then went on to prevail against Kvothe the King Killer from Patrick Rothfuss's The Name Of The Wind. He's just been prevailing all over everyone's FACE, and is now in the FINAL MATCH! Thanks ought to be given to the many ASOIAF nerds who visit Suvudu. Thanks, fans... Thans.
... and then that's it for Suvudu Cage Match 2010.
This is very appropriate. Jaime Lannister (right), who has lost his right hand, is now going up against Rand Al’Thor (from Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time series)... who has lost his left hand. Both incredibly skilled swordsmen. The vote turnout will be in the tens of thousands.
Jaime Lannister, my man, is doing well. He beat Temeraire the big polite dragon and creation of Naomi Novik, but in a much more unfathomably unbelievable twist, he acutally BEAT the Elder God and Great Priest, straight from the mean streets of R'lyeh, the inimitable Cthulhu. GRRM totally outlined how Jaime could possibly pull this off, and he was right, Jaime pulled it off.
It was kind of a shame, though. Cthulhu hardly had any chance to show off his Elder God prowess. Before Jaime, he was up against little girl and alethiometer specialist Lyra Belacqua. She was hardly any match, needless to say. But Jaime is now in the final four! So I'm excited.
This has gotten me fully into the Cthulhu Mythos, and if you're looking for a REALLY good read:
I'm absolutely in love with the author of the web comic Hark, A Vagrant. I don't know what she looks like, but she's from Canada, and is a total history nerd, which is basically the sexiest thing ever.
I think this basically just sums it up for me. I've grown tired of politics, so I don't want to put what happened into my OWN words. But I think if I did still have some kind of political passion, and if I had even a fraction of the writing ability that George has in his little finger, I'd maybe opine something along these lines.
Also, the Daily Show should be really good tonight. It wasn't new!!! >:(
Attention millions of people who read my live journal. Go to the following link, and VOTE FOR JAIME LANNISTER!! Why? Because he's badass, and if he beats Cthulhu then it's a sure ride to the top for him (or maybe until he has to battle The Shrike).
Of course, if you feel compelled to vote for Cthulhu, I wouldn't blame you. I mean... he's pretty badass too.
I don't know what I think, though, about there only being 10 episodes, including the pilot. I think there ought to be more. I'd be really pissed if they dropped out too many plot lines. Then again, it's not like Lost, where they need more episodes in a series due to 20% of that hour given up to ads.
More importantly, it's not like Lost in that it's gonna be a serious piece of work for TV, on par with Sopranos. Well, here's hoping. They could also just ruin it with alien invasions or something...
I really like this picture. It's the author (sitting) with 6 cast members. I think it's a cool photo because (perhaps except for Arya, the little girl) they all seem to be somewhat... in character.
